Breast Milk MileStone™ Celebration

Supporting breastfeeding families is a passion very close to my heart.  Breastfeeding in modern society is very hard. Which makes celebrating the breastfeeding relationship something that is needed!  Whether you breastfeed for 3 days or 3 years the breastfeeding relationship needs to be celebrated! Some of the most extraordinary women I met were breastfeeding mothers. I have been honored to be apart of some of the most intimate and raw parts of so many families. These experiences have shaped and humbled me in ways I never imagined possible. It is my hope that all families have something tangible to celebrate their relationship relationship!

Over the past year I have been studying and experimenting to make the perfect formula for Breast Milk MileStone™ Jewelry. I am overwhelmed with excitement to be announcing that I am finally ready to accept some orders! I know many people who would love a piece. The great amount of time and precious metals that go into making the Breast Milk MileStone™ make them out of the budget to many.  Which is why I am inviting you, my clients and dear friends, to enter in a Mother’s Day Special Celebration!

Up to ten women will be selected to get a sterling silver Breast Milk MileStone™ ring and matching earrings similar to the one pictured for a $50, a fraction of the retail value($250).

Southern New Mexico Primitive Camping with Small Children

I’m reluctant to share about this family-friendly gem hidden in the Gila National Forest, because we like remote camping locations with little outside interaction. This is our weekend getaway place. Three hours from El Paso is a beautiful Small town called Silver City. Drive 45 min into the Gila National Forest from Silver City on highway 180 and turn left on Bill Evans Rd. You end up and the gorgeous Bill Evens Lake in the in the middle of the mountains.

Bill Evans Lake. Silver City New Mexico

Reasons we choose Bill Evans Lake:

  • It is an easy drive from EL Paso.
  • No access fee-Free camping!
  • The roads are maintained so my Jetta makes its right to the camp site.
  • The lake slowly gets deeper. I do not have to worry about my child when playing in the water.
  • Record breaking fish have been caught out of the lake.
  • If you camp during the week you will probably be alone at night.
  • Dog Friendly!
  • It is only 45 min to civilization in case on an emergency or supply run!
  • Other people who camp/fish there are typically locals and the town has great people!
  • Amazing Wildlife and breath taking views.

  • Bumbo (Pictured below)
  • Dream Blanket (If you are pregnant I highly suggest only buying this blanket for baby!)20161123_164054
  • Butterbean Sunscreen
  • Bug-a-boo Herbal Bug Spray (LOVE THIS! Read my review about it killing ants.)
  • Lavender and Tea Tree Roll-On Essential Oils (Normally I use Doterra, however Aura Cacia is a super affordable option. I like this brand for topical use and diffusion. It is a great option for camping. If something happens to it I wouldn’t be upset and it was very convenient in a roller.)
  • Acrylic Paint set (My four year old loves rocks. We painted them with creatures and made a tic-tac-toe board)
  • Chew Beads A must have to keep baby entertained while hiking! 20161124_130418

The weather in Gila was absolutely manageable in November with the children staying in a tent(with us). Our routine was based around staying warm.

This is what we did:

Mornings: Woke up around 7am. Nick made breakfast and coffee. P played in a heavy jacket. R and I stayed in the tent until it warmed up around 9am.

Afternoons: By 1pm the weather was beautiful. We hiked during this time in light clothing.

Evenings: Made a fire and bundled both children up. If it was too windy R chilled in bumbo inside the tent with the door opened.

Night: R slept in a insulated Carter’s sleeper and P slept in normal pjs and her sleeping bag. We were quite comfortable every night. However, there was heavy wind the last night which was distributive to sleep. We applied lavender to help everyone through the night.

Camping Hack: Baby R is wearing normal children’s mittens with the thumb rolled into the band.

How to Encapsulate Your Placenta-Raw vs TCM Processes:

Blissful Birth and Beyond - Placenta Encapsulation Processes
Blissful Birth and Beyond – Placenta Encapsulation Processes

There are two primary encapsulation processes to chose from: Traditional Chinese Medicine and Raw. When reading this please keep in mind what steps you were drawn and use your strong mother’s intuition to chose what process and steps are best for your placenta. When you choose Blissful Birth and Beyond for your placenta you can and are encouraged to custom order when filling out the order form. Below we will cover the steps for each method:

The Traditional Chinese Medicine process that invokes steaming the placenta with lemon and ginger to infuse warmth as a saw placenta is considered very cold in TCM. The concept behind this process is adding (warmth/yang) to the mother’s body to replace the empty spaces (cold/yin) in her body from giving birth.

1. Both processes begin with gently cleansing the placenta from blood with warm water.

2. A photo of the clean placenta is taken for my records unless permission is not granted.

3. The cord and membranes are gently removed.

4. If mother has orders a tincture or keepsake it is removed now.

5. The placenta is steamed with fresh organic lemon slices and organic ginger gently graded. This step takes about 30-40 min.

6. The placenta is cut into thin slices.

7. The placenta is placed on a protective barrier and then on the dehydrator. This step typically takes 7-10 hours.

8. The placenta is then ground up using an electric grinder or a mortar and pestle.

9. The ground placenta is then put into vegan capsules and placed into the freezer immediately for storing until delivery.

Raw:

1. Both processes begin with gently cleansing the placenta from blood with warm water.

2. A photo of the clean placenta is taken for my records unless permission is not granted.

3. The cord and membranes are gently removed.

4. If mother has ordered a tincture or keepsake it is removed now.

5. The placenta is cut into thin slices.

6. The placenta is placed on a protective barrier and then on the dehydrator on low heat. This step typically takes 8-10 hours.

7. The placenta is then ground up using an electric grinder or a mortar and pestle.

8. The ground placenta is then put into vegan capsules placed into the freezer immediately for storing until delivery.

The process takes no more then 48 hours from pick-up to delivery.

Start here: Birth Preferences and Tips!

The birth of your child should be one of the most amazing experiences of your life. Unfortunately, many women in the US experience birth trauma. Here are some tips for writing your Birth Plan. A Birth Plan is your preferences written out to help your support know what you want.

Tips:

  • Take a tour of the place you are delivering
  • Clarify what is routine verse policy
  • Call it your birth preferences (The staff is more likely to be supportive when preferences is used instead of plan.)
  • Keep it under one page (Doing this makes it easy to read.)
  • Educate yourself on what is medically necessary verses routine (Typically if something is medically necessary it is more likely be a policy. However, not all policies are medically necessary and just because it is a policy does not mean you have to consent.)
  • View samples of prewritten samples such as the one below
  • Make it only about Labor, Delivery and Postpartum Care of mother and baby
